Colleges in Boston: Another Perspective

US News World Report probably has the most widely read guide to colleges.  Anxious parents and high schoolers alike pick it up off the shelf since it has such trusted information on which colleges are in fact the best, and can give you a leg up on the competition once you make it to the workforce.  However, there are other ways of evaluating schools as well.  One simple way is just to ask alumni.  Was the college all its cracked up to be?  Some will tell you that the admission was the hardest part of it, while others will tell you they slaved for four years, and yet few HR people knew about the college’s reputation.  All useful data points.

Yet another perspective is one we will present here: the popularity of colleges in Boston based on how often people stored that school’s information in their digital address book.  While not definitive, this may provide some clues as to which colleges people have a connection to or stay in touch with, both positive correlations.  The following are among the top 25 schools according to this analysis.
