I was reading an interesting article last night that told that a major airline has had to reduce the number of passengers that it can carry on its flights.  Apparently, there has to be room on the liferafts for every passenger on the plane.  This airline didn’t have enough liferafts so they will have to carry less passengers until they have the planes properly equipped.  I never realized that a liferaft was mandatory equipment for aircraft, I just thought they provided flotation devices.  When you think about it this mandate makes perfect sense because so many flight routes are over water.
